Pecten maximus, Linnaeus 1758

The Atlantic Scallop which by its own right should be the Pecten jacobaeus, because this actually is the shell pilgrims carry from and to Santiago de Compostela on their pilgrimage and not their mediterranean cousins which were named and described by Linné as well rather unfortunately as Pecten jacobaeus. Either way they are both excellent seafood and this piece was actually prepared with fried tomatoes and served in a typical Tapa Bar in the busy fishery port of Muxia in Northern Spain.
