This is an interesting species which is so very strange compared to other Pecten that a special Genus was creatad just to accomodate it in this large and varied family, monotypic as scientist would say. They come from Somalia and they were named as recently as 1986 by Waller. My pieces were collected south of Port Eyl and they were trawled offshore. The largest specimen on the picture is a World Record Size measuring a gorgeous 86mm which is truely exceptional.
