Caribachlamys imbricata, Gmelin 1791

One has to go a long way to find a decent group of this most delicate species, in fact these four pieces represent the very cream of 40 years diving the Florida coast. A famous bivalve and it would be much better loved among collectors if there were pieces like these available for sale but as it is with good things, they are truely rare. A very delicate and lightweight species sporting a brilliant lemmon yellow inside and spoon like scales that cover the main ribbs of the shell, unique among Pecten and a stunning sight for sure.
