Swiftopecten swiftii, Bernard 1858

This is the first bivalve I ever added to my collection when still in grammer school and the reason is obvious for it is a large species with interesting knobbs, strongly ribbed and it definitely shows a beautiful and rather loud pink colour, everything that adds interest to a novice collector, and by the way it was and still is one of the easily available species of such caracteristics. I guess even some of the most focussed gastropod collectors actually have a specimen, even if they hide it in some dark drawer...probably because it is a commercial seafood in Japan? Speaking for myself, it never offended me if beauty was to be found in common things.
